Additional Ingredients Required:
For fermentation you will also require 1kg of dextrose. As an alternative to dextrose consider Liquid Brewing Sugar to reduce the sweet finish and improve the mouthfeel of your brew. Liquid Malt will give you a smoother mouthfeel and more body. If you use liquid malt extract we would suggest using 1.5kg of Extra Light Liquid Malt Extract.
Why have we suggested using Brick Road Extra Light Liquid Malt Extract?
The intended colour of thie brew is vibrant gold. An extra light malt extract is required to retain this colour. And we believe the light malt extract will flavour profile will be to strong for the intended style of the brew. We have specifically suggested Brick Road in this case as they offer a 1.5KG option which we think will work better with the reduced final volume (20l). Mangrove Jacks do not offer an Extra Light Liquid Malt option in their range.
WE WOULD NOT USE THE MANGROVE JACKS LIGHT LIQUID MALT EXTRACT WITH THIS BREW.
Why Does This Kit Only Make 23Litres?
The manufacturers instructions are to use 20litres final volume. We believe this is to support the higher target ABV (6.2%) without using higher than normal amounts of additional fermentables. The reduced volume will also support the rich and vibrant flavour profile.
While we would suggest making the kit the first time following the manufacturers instructions, brewers who prefer a higher yield or a lower ABV are able to experiment and increase the final volume up to 23 litres.
