Black Rock Riwaka Pale Ale
The Black Rock Crafted Riwaka Pale Ale is a premium extract brewing kit created from our master brewer’s favourite pale ale recipe. Built on generous amounts of ale malt, Light Crystal, and Aurora specialty malts, this brew delivers a rich body, subtle caramel sweetness, and a pale brown pour with great depth of flavour.
About This Brew:
What makes this Pale Ale truly special is the hop bill. NZ Green Bullet hops are added at the boil to provide a firm, moderate-high bitterness that balances the malt sweetness. But the star of the show is the Riwaka™ dry hop addition. Renowned as one of New Zealand’s most sought-after hop varieties, Riwaka™ brings vibrant citrus character, infusing the beer with bold aromas of passionfruit, grapefruit, and zesty lime.
The result is a Pale Ale that’s refreshing, aromatic, and full of character. With its balanced malt backbone, crisp bitterness, and citrus-driven aroma, it’s a brew that stands tall whether enjoyed fresh from the keg or poured into a pint with friends.
Perfect for those who want a beer that’s classic at its core but elevated by uniquely New Zealand hops, the Black Rock Crafted Riwaka Pale Ale is a kit that delivers both tradition and innovation in every sip.

Optional Ingredients Required
Suggested Hop Pairing:
For dry hopping the Black Rock Riwaka Pale Ale…
To build on the aromatic notes of the brew go with the 50-100grams of Riwaka Hops.
Consider pairing 50grams each of the Riwaka Hops and Cascade Hops for a citrus forward flavour profile that works particularly well for Pale Ales.
Premium Yeast Option:
The yeast we would go directly to and the yeast recomended on the Black Rock website is the SafAle US-05 Yeast, which is well suites to ale style brews. We would suggest fermending with 2 x packets to make 23grams total. Consider using a Yeast Nutrient as well.
